What do you do all day?

NOT being a morning person, she half-opens her eyes and lazily snoozes the alarm while trying to calculate the no. of snoozes done already. Ohh, it’s about time for her son to log in to school. God bless remote learning for that additional hour of sleep. She wakes up her son and both start their morning routine together by brushing their teeth! Her son starts his schooling and she rushes to the kitchen.

Of course, the breakfast is already planned last night, so she quickly executes the plan. Her son finishes his morning call and they both start their breakfast together. She revises the plan for the day in her head from what she had decided last night. The sparkling clean sink now has a few dishes in it!

The kid starts off with his next class on the top of the loft bed and she sits on her study at its bottom to start her workday. Oh yeah, she takes out the pre-made gravy from the deep freeze (cos, what else are weekends for, if not for making gravies?!), to be used for lunch. Now… Review the calendar to check any additional ad-hoc meetings, clear off the emails from the client and from the employer. After a good couple of hours at work, if the day permits, she rushes to her living room to finish off her 30-45 mins of exercise for the day. If not, then the fitness routine must be done after work. (Or is it time for a cheat day already?!)

Aaaaand its lunch time… She assembles the lunch together… A quick mix of veggies into the gravy and making rotis while it cooks (sometimes tacos!). 20mins to prepare (Ouch, that finger-cut!) and 10 to eat (more like an hour to eat for the son though!)

And back to work she goes:

Tap tap tap on the keyboard; Talk talk talk on the calls.

Analyze requirements, resolve conflicts, coordinate with stakeholders….

Understand issues, brainstorm for improvements, get creative to find newer, better solutions….

Form relationships, lead the way, bring fun and belongingness into work for everyone… Be it your team, the client, or other vendor partners.

Phew! That’s what I call yet another fruitful day at work!

The day has almost ended. Around 6, she takes the kid and his friends to the park where they expend all that childhood energy while she catches up on her fitness routine (if she missed it in the morning); or with her friends from the park; or from all across the world thru this tiny little miracle called the smartphone!

Dinner at 8.30-9. Household chores follow. And then, preps and planning for the next day. She then talks to the kid, prays with him, and puts him to sleep by 11ish. Reads something if she has the energy, wishes once again of a day when she can use this time to write, talks to her temporarily-long-distance husband for the 100th and the last time for the day, and then off she goes to her dream world!

What do YOU do all day?!!

P.S.: Yes, you got that right... She doesn’t have time for Netflix. She prefers reading instead. But ya, she makes time for it if one of her trusted friends tells her about one of the most amazing shows. So yes, she has watched Dark and Money Heist!
